Henry's Fishing
Report 11/21/09
Today was an interesting day on the river. The river rose and fell
every two or three hours keeping the trout confused and off
balance. Zebra midges would work, then it would be Woolly Buggers,
then soft hackles, back to Zebras, then red worms with gold
ribbing. As a wader, you really had to keep your eyes on your water
marker so not to get in trouble.
But all in all, it was a good day to fly fish in the traditional way
(wading). Even with two or three units running you could find
several places from Rim Shoals to the dam to wade. Its just
that the bigger fish seem to prefer Rim Shoals.

Saturday, November 14th, was a day to remember. I waded into the
White River at 8:40 am and departed at 3:30 pm having caught many
fish on a large array of flies. Soft hackles were a great early
morning fly, then came the midges which gave us one hit after the
other. The down side here was the fly size, #26, probably lost 3
times more than we landed. Woolly Buggers in # 14 gave a good
account of itself and the Rim Shoals Zebra #16 in black and copper
gave non-stop action starting about 2:30.
This was a good day to be a wader. Spoke to several guides who said
they were having a good day on small fish up river but the large
fish were all in the Rim Shoals area. Imagine that - why do people
think Rim Shoals is known as the trophy area?
